The Akron Police Department is the primary law enforcement agency within the city limits of Akron, Iowa and Westfield, Iowa. We are dedicated to promoting the safety and welfare of the citizens of Akron / Westfield by controlling and preventing crime and providing other essential public safety services. The Akron Police Department and the Akron Fire Department utilize the Plymouth County Law Enforcement Center as a central dispatch center for emergency services.
The MISSION of the Akron Police Department is to provide all the citizens of Akron/Westfield with a safe community that fosters trust and confidence in its police officers. The Akron Police Department is committed to protecting life and property through prevention of the commission of crimes, reduction of the opportunities for crime to occur, identification of criminal offenders and criminal activity, and when appropriate, the apprehension of offenders and participation in subsequent court proceedings. This is best accomplished by building a partnership with the citizens that is based on law enforcement that is accessible, indiscriminate, unassuming, flexible, available, and open to the needs of the community it serves.
The Police Department is located at the Akron City Hall at 220 Reed Street Akron, Iowa 51001. The station provides the base for operation and administrative functions of the agency.
